Act as “Shop Assistants” in our play-based assessment for ethnically-diversed primary school students. Read the assessment manual provided before the service day, and complete a short online quiz based on the assessment materials. Attend a 45‑minute online briefing session (21 or 24 April during lunch hour) prior to the service day. Interact with students in Cantonese to elicit natural speech during role‑play activities. Provide simple instructions for assessment tasks at the booth. Observe and assess students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills using the provided grading booklet

CantoGather is a Christian-affiliated organization committed to making community a reality through language and intercultural education. Through its ABC approach - Advancing language ability, Building intercultural competence, and Connecting the community - CantoGather supports ethnically diverse children in Hong Kong.This volunteer opportunity supports the Chinese, Culture, and Community (CCC) Programme, which provides structured Chinese language education to ethnically diverse primary school students. After a year of learning, it is time to measure their growth! Students will participate in an assessment day designed as a simulated “CantoGather Department Store,” replacing traditional exams with real-life, play-based language tasks.The assessment will take place on 2 May 2026 (Saturday), 10:00–12:30 in Long Ping or 6 May 2026 (Wednesday), 15:00–17:30 in Kwai Hing. The Online Briefing will be held on 21 April or 24 April 2026 (13:15–14:00) - Volunteer will have to attend one session only. 1) A full assessment manual and information deck with grading samples2) A simple, box-checking grading booklet3) All assessment materials and “department store” props4) On-site support from the CantoGather team5) An online briefing session prior to the service day
