Description
Supported by Re-think HK 2022
Description: Calls to reduce, reuse and recycle in Hong Kong have never been stronger. At the start of 2022, it was estimated that over 100 million pieces of plastic items had been used and disposed of by hotel quarantine guests alone. It has been predicted that by 2030, Hong Kong will be sending 4.2 billion single-use takeaway containers to landfill every year.
For Hongkongers looking to recycle in your own district, check out the GREEN @ COMMUNITY stores across the city, run by the Environmental Protection Department. A full list of locations and addresses can be found here.
The separation and cleaning of items is a must and made easy on-site. Eight types of recyclables are accepted including paper, metals, plastics, glass bottles, certain electrical equipment, rechargeable batteries and more.
HandsOn would like to celebrate our volunteers' recycling efforts by recognizing your time and commitment with volunteer hours! By signing up for one of the dates below you are committing to drop off your recyclables within 14 days of your registered session and send a photo to HandsOn. We will reward the volunteer hours to your account accordingly.
Remarks: Please note, you are not required to follow the stated dates and times listed in the calendar. This is for registration and recording purposes only.
Volunteer hours completed through this activity may not be recognized by all schools. Students should check with their school's coordinator.
