Description
Description: In Hong Kong, roughly 22.6% of children live under the poverty line. For most of them, after-school activities and tutoring that develop abilities and build self-confidence and social skills are an inaccessible luxury.
The students from Li Sing Tai Hang School who are ethnic minorities, new arrivals, or from low-income families have been especially disadvantaged, suffering from the lack of extra language and Mathematics support they usually depend on. Volunteers will build up a positive model for the students through casual interaction.
We are calling for English-speaking volunteers who can commit to multiple sessions to deliver small-group tutoring support for primary students.
Volunteer roles:
Each volunteer will provide homework support to a student.
The service session will be monitored for safety purposes.
We look to have volunteers sign up for multiple sessions to continuously support these children.
All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you in this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
