Description
This programme is generously supported by HKEX Charity Partnership Programme. Description: LeadOn Hong Kong is a volunteer leadership program led by HandsOn Hong Kong in partnership with HKEX Foundation. It is a structured leadership and community engagement program that guides and trains young people to build the skills to design and lead creative community projects. If you are interested in taking further steps by joining this program, please feel free to apply to the program here! We are recruiting volunteers to get hands-on with our LeadOn Volunteer Leaders at a number of expressive art workshops for the children with hearing impairments/elderly served by our charity partners. These workshops use simple art-making activities to create a safe, welcoming space that enhances mood, confidence, and self-expression for participants. They help to improve well-being, reduce stress, and foster social connection for everyone involved. Volunteer Roles: Set up and pack away art materials and any other preparation as needed. Support the Volunteer Leader and art therapist and/or facilitator by preparing simple art tools, distributing materials, and keeping the space tidy and safe. Encourage and accompany children with hearing impairments/elderly participants during activities, offering gentle guidance, conversation, and positive reinforcement. Assist with basic logistics such as registration, time-keeping, photos (where appropriate), and participant flow so the Volunteer Leader can focus on facilitation. Join a short briefing and debriefing led by the Volunteer Leader and/or HandsOn team to reflect on the impact of the session and share observations. Remarks: This role does not involve designing or leading the workshop; you will be supporting trained Volunteer Leaders who have completed specialised expressive art and soft skills training under the LeadOn Hong Kong program. The art workshops may cover soft pastels, chenille stems, art collage, plant printing, stone painting, and wood-slice painting. All volunteers must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. Friends or family members who wish to join are warmly welcome—please ensure that each person registers and signs up separately.
