Description
Description: Everyday in Hong Kong, over 3,250 tonnes of food waste are dumped into landfills, while one in five people live in poverty and struggle to eat. Breadline is Hong Kong’s first public digital platform for food rescue. Volunteers connect with bakeries on Breadline to rescue leftover bread using real-time updates to make every run count. Together, we save resources from being wasted and we support the homeless; low-income families; refugees and their children and the elderly poor, by delivering bread the same night to our grassroots partners. Volunteer Role: Save bread! - Choose your own runs on Breadline by selecting the bakeries you want to collect from - Check-in for real-time updates and bring your own bags to collect - Be agile and flexible, go to where the bread is! Service time: Pick-up time is the one stated for your shop. You can drop-off your collection in Causeway Bay Windsor House (皇室堡)(Entrance near the parking on Great George Street) from 8:45pm to 10:00pm. Volunteers will be there to welcome you with your haul. If you sign up as a team, each teammate should claim their own runs. Service details and volunteer safety: All volunteers will receive a service reminder for this activity which must be followed exactly to ensure timely bread collection and handling guidelines are followed.
