Help Students with Intellectual Disabilities to Enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival Lights

Description: Po Leung Kuk Yu Lee Mo Fan Memorial School is looking for volunteers to accompany a group of 12 students with moderate intellectual disabilities aged 6-18 to explore Hong Kong community outside their dormitory. The special school hopes this outing can enrich students’ life experiences through the appreciation of light and shadow installations, while deepening their understanding of Chinese culture. This activity also promote interaction and exchange between volunteers and residents, enhance community members’ understanding and acceptance of the residents, and work together to foster an inclusive and accepting community culture. Volunteer Role: Volunteers will first gather at the school in Shau Kei Wan and then accompany students to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival lights in the Piazza of Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the session. Remarks: Volunteers will need to pay for their own meals and transportation. Need to hold hands with the students to ensure their safety. All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
